Résumé
“My father? He does diplomatic shit…” vaguely explains Eduardo, frontman of Panico. Apart from their french bass player, this five-piece grew up in Santiago de Chile. To make a long story short they were named after the Panic Movement (collective formed by Fernando Arrabal, Alejandro Jodorowsky – director of the very psychedelic Holy Mountain– and Roland Topor in Paris in 1962), they ran away from Pinochet’s dictatorship to go to the US, Japan and eventually to France where they met. Since 1995 in Paris, Panico have been simmering their spanglish voodoo post-punk, and have so far released seven records. The last album, Subliminal Kill released on Tigersushi, won them a ticket to open for Franz Ferdinand two years ago. But what’s really hot, is their new adventure: the band is now working on a music documentary taking place in the Atacama desert, a rainless plateau in South American, where they’ll be filmed on a mystic journey in the search of a talking rock… We’ll see how that goes.
